Performances

Basically Ballet offers a variety of performance opportunities depending on the student’s level of technique and commitment.

Parent Invitation Week is held every October and February. Parents observe the student’s regular class and enjoy a party afterwards. This is a great time for families, students, and teachers to socialize! In June, class work is culminated with a dance piece which encompasses skills learned throughout the year. The senior level ballet class also perform in order to give students and parents a look into the future!

Senior Spotlight

Basically Ballet believes that performing is a privilege offered to those students who have attained a higher level of skill, maturity and discipline. Students in the higher level classes, ballet 2 and up, participate in Basically Ballet’s “Senior Spotlight” held every June on a local stage.  The Senior Spotlight gives the students and parents a more professional performing experience.  Still, we believe in making things affordable! Costumes are included in the registration fee and ticket prices are minimal.

Students in Creative Movement to Ballet 1, perform in the “Junior Spotlight”.  This is an informal showing of a combination of classwork and dance pieces held in early June.  Students show off what they have learned about dance technique, stage direction, character, rhythm, and beyond.  Creative movement classes tell a story through movement, and pre ballet and ballet 1 integrate a tap curriculum into their performance.  It is fun, exciting, and educational for parents and students to see the progression of skills from one level to the next.  Costume costs are included in the registration fee.

Student Choreo-Project

The Student choreography Showcase, held every spring, gives students the opportunity to create, costume, and perform their own dance pieces.  It is always amazing to see how creative our students can be!

The Basically Ballet Student Company gives community performances in various charitable and educational type settings. The company performs at local libraries, nursing homes, nursery schools, and elementary schools.

Dance is a performing art, and the serious dance student needs to gain performance skill as well as excellent technique.
